Top Courts Now Re-open to Members

We’re thrilled to announce that our three new synthetic grass courts are officially open for play! These courts mark a significant upgrade to our facilities, and we’re incredibly excited for you all to begin experiencing them.

We'd also like to thank the team at Australian Synthetic Turf Enterprises (ASTE) who have built our wonderful new courts. Bec, Dave, Alan, and the team were wonderful to deal with— incredibly professional and knowledgeable— and we highly recommend them to other clubs looking for a contractor to resurface their courts.

Important Information About the New Courts:

Surface Settling: As the courts are brand new, the sand on the surface will need some time to settle—typically between 4 to 12 weeks, depending on how much play they receive. During this settling period, the courts will play slower than usual. Rest assured, as the surface settles in, the pace will pick up, giving you a faster game.

Leaf and Sand Baggers: We are in the process of sourcing new leaf and sand baggers specifically designed for the new surface. Until they arrive, please refrain from using the old baggers currently available at the club, as they are not suitable for the new courts and may cause damage to the surface.

No Watering Required: Unlike our previous courts, the new synthetic grass surface does not require any watering. This will help us conserve water while ensuring a consistent playing experience.

Addressing Deficiencies: Our contractors will be returning in a month to address any deficiencies that may arise as the courts settle. If you notice any issues, please don’t hesitate to contact us at membership@banyuletennis.net.au.

Respect the New Courts: We hope you enjoy playing on the new courts! Please help us keep them in top condition by wearing the correct footwear and clearing the courts of any large tree litter before or after your matches. And to avoid disruption or disappointment when accessing the courts, we ask that you please check the court schedule to see when the courts are available and occupied by existing bookings, competition or coaching.

Thank you for your cooperation, and we look forward to seeing you all enjoying the new courts!

Best regards,

Banyule Tennis Club Committee
