Entry-Level Tournament:
Who it's for:
Players aged around 6–14 years who are new to tournament play.
This event offers a relaxed, supportive environment—a perfect first step into competitive tennis. Coaches will be on court throughout the event to:
-
Help with nerves
-
Guide players through the rules and scoring
-
Ensure a positive, enjoyable first experience
We know how important this first tournament can be—it often shapes whether a child wants to continue competing in the future!
Junior Development Series (JDS):
Who it's for:
Performance-level players ready for a more structured, competitive experience.
Over recent events, this division has grown rapidly. We’ve transitioned from timed matches to full match play over two days. We’re now formalising it into its own event: the "Junior Development Series".
JDS offers players a tournament-style structure that mirrors our Friday UTR Series, using similar rules and scoring.
Why These Events Matter:
Both events are designed to:
-
Build player confidence
-
Offer age- and stage-appropriate competition
-
Help coaches assess players' readiness for future tournaments
This model has been refined over several years and has made Tennis Palmerston a leader in junior tournament participation across the NT.
What You Need to Enter:
To enter, players must have a linked Competitive Player Profile with UTR integration. If you’ve played in a recent tournament, you’re likely already set up.
If you’re new to tournaments, follow Tennis Australia’s streamlined process. Tennis Australia has a simple guide that walks you through everything—from creating your UTR account to linking it with Match Centre.
Pro Tip:
Use the same email address and password for both your UTR and Match Centre profiles to avoid confusion. Once created, your profile lasts for life and can be used Australia-wide.
