Pickleball with QPTC

Looking for a social and fun sport to play?

Come and play pickleball with the Queanbeyan Park Tennis Club (QPTC).

With the first, purpose-built pickleball courts in the region (East Queanbeyan courts on Waniassa Street), QPTC run weekly intro and social pickleball sessions (timetable below).

What is pickleball?

Pickleball is played on a badminton-sized court with a low net like tennis. Players use over-sized ping pong paddles to rally with a plastic wiffle ball.

The idea is to play to 11, winning by 2, and you can only score points on the serve. The average games takes between 10-20 minutes.

How to play?

  • Each game starts with the serving team sending the ball over the net.
  • The ball must bounce once on each side of the court before volleying can occur – that is the serve and the return of serve must bounce.
  • If the serving team faults or misses the ball, they lose their serve.
  • But if the receiving team faults or misses the ball, the serving team scores a point.
  • The first team to reach 11 points (as long as they’re 2 points ahead) wins the game.

What do I need to play?

To play pickleball you will need paddles and balls. If you come along to any of our Club-run sessions, these are provided. You are welcome to bring your own paddle and balls too.

When can I play?

Our team of Club volunteers run weekly intro and social sessions, see timetable below. Please follow our facebook page for updates to session times and wet weather notifications.
