Our History

Original committee formed on 6th October 1966.
 
First 3 Courts built March 1967, officially opened 20 April 1967.
 
A temporary pavilion was constructed out of car cases.
 
In 1969-70 two additional courts were built, temporary pavilion extended by another car case.
 
New clubhouse opened 12 February 1972 by Mayor of Heidelberg Councillor Colin Laing.
Court 6 completed in 1982
Court Lighting:
New Elsco Lighting was installed on all six courts between June 1991 and January 1994.
Flooding:
Flash floods damaged Courts in 1970-71, Nov 1988 and Christmas Day 2011.

Court 1 was so badly damaged in Christmas Day 2011 floods that the carpet was partially torn up and rippled as seen in the picture below.

Court 1 was repaired in June 2012 thanks to Banyule Council.

 

Courts 3 to 6 Renovations commenced September 2014
