Hadfield Tennis Club is proud to announce the successful upgrade of our court lighting, made possible through the generous support of Merri-bek City Council. Our application was selected as part of the 2024–2025 Facility Improvement Grant under the Community Grants Program, and we are deeply grateful for this opportunity.

Thanks to this grant, the ageing 1000W metal halide lights on Courts 3, 4, 5, and 6 have been replaced with modern, energy-efficient Hawkeye Luminaires (LED lights). These new lights are not only significantly more sustainable, but they are also fully compatible with the Tennis Victoria Book A Court system. Previously, the old lights required lengthy warm-up and cool-down periods, which disrupted night competition and social play when issues occurred with the booking software.

The improved LED lighting has already enhanced the experience for our players, making night tennis more enjoyable and accessible. Importantly, this upgrade aligns with Merri-bek City Council’s Community Grants Program priorities to meet community needs and support long-term sustainability.
