Tennis Geelong Seniors

Grovedale Tennis Club enters teams into the Tennis Geelong Senior Competition which is an open-age competition held on Saturday afternoons commencing at 1 pm in Winter and 1:30 pm in Summer.

The Senior Winter competitions run from April to August and the Summer competitions run from October to March with a long break over the Christmas period.

This competition provides a variety of formats as follows:

• Two men two women teams playing six six-game tie break sets comprising four mixed doubles, one women’s doubles and one men’s doubles.
• Four man teams playing six six-game tie break sets comprising of six men’s doubles.
• Three person teams playing four three-set rubbers with a ten-point tiebreaker for the third set, with two rubbers as singles and two as doubles.

Players pay a set amount per season and must be a financial member of the club.

Grovedale enters teams into the Tennis Victoria Pennant competition, which runs in winter and features clubs across Melbourne and nearby surrounds.

This competition has a men's division that plays on Saturday afternoons and a women's division that has the choice of playing Saturday morning or afternoon.

The format is four player teams, playing four singles and two doubles rubbers each week. The singles and doubles rubbers alternate between playing a best of three set match with a ten-point tiebreaker for the third set, and playing an eight-game set, with singles playing one format one week while doubles plays the other, and alternating the next week.

Players pay a set amount per season and must be a financial member of the club.
