Wooragee Tennis Club

HISTORY:

Wooragee Tennis Club commenced sometime prior to 1918, being the earliest year of recollection.  At that time, Wooragee had one dirt court, running in a east west direction.  In 1975 the local community worked to create two new dirt courts, running in a north south direction.  These courts were built by the community using their own tractors, wheelbarrows, shovels and rakes.  In 1982 a small grant was obtained from Indigo Shire to establish lighting.   Again, the community pitched in and four stands were erected, with night tennis then able to be played.  In 1987 the courts were concreted, without any external funding being obtained, and relying on the skill sets of our locals!  In 2017 the Club applied for, and were successful in obtaining funding through the Victorian Government and the Indigo Shire.  Substantial funds were also raised by the Wooragee community.  In 2021, we are proud to showcase our new synthetic grass courts, new fencing, and state of the art LED lights.
