Welcome to the Wanneroo Tennis Club

Introduction

The Wanneroo Tennis Club is the oldest and largest tennis club in the City of Wanneroo. Since then, it has grown significantly due to the hard work of its committee members and the tremendous support from sponsors throughout the years.  It was first established in 1975 by Trevor Johnson, a long-time resident and businessman in Wanneroo. Trevor of Crown Mushrooms was instrumental in establishing tennis in the City of Wanneroo. He went on to form a Northern Districts Tennis Association and other competitions as other clubs were established in the fast growing suburbs within the city.

The Club’s humble beginnings commenced at the Wanneroo Show Ground’s 2 courts. As the community grew, more courts were required and courts at the Wanneroo Senior High School were utilised by the Club.  With the support of the local Council at the time, a vacant land in Elliot Road was set aside for a massive 12-court tennis complex.  Subsequently, the Club has grown steadily since, with its Club house commissioned by Councillor Ray Ivan in 1984.
