Autumn Newlsetter 2025

Victoria Park Tennis Club

Autumn Newsletter 2025

As we are now approaching the end of March, we thought it was a good time to touch base and keep you up to date on happenings at the Club.

The 2025 AGM was held in mid February and was well attended. The following office bearers were elected.

President – Tony Di Guglielmo                   Vice President – Jason Lindeman

Secretary – Nicole Lindeman                      Treasurer – Penny Angove

Committee Members – Sue Foley, David Matthews, Judy Robbins, Christine Sandow, Paul Smyth, Glenn Worth & Stephen Zhang.

Grant Cameron has stepped down from committee and we thank him for his service to the Club over many years. Grant has left a very permanent mark on the Club, especially having taken the lead on the LED lighting project over the past two years.

The new committee is looking to carry on the terrific work of previous committees.

There are also a couple of matters we would like to highlight.

PLEASE LOOK AFTER OUR CLUB:

We were very disappointed to discover that the brand new outdoor umbrella (purchased through the City of   Boroondara grant program in 2024) was left up overnight, and was very badly damaged by strong winds. We are hopeful that we may be able to repair it. It is a responsibility of all members to look after our equipment, and ensure that the clubhouse and gate are secured when you leave.

RESERVING A COURT – and adding light and visitor fees:

Over the past 6 months we have welcomed many new members to Victoria Park Tennis Club, which has been fantastic. This membership growth has meant that we are monitoring court usage closely, to ensure fair use of the courts is maintained.

Please be reminded of the following rules regarding light and visitor fees:

· Members are permitted to bring guests to play with them, and there is a $5 fee per visitor. It is the     member’s responsibility to ensure the visitor fee is paid.

· Lights are activated in the clubhouse by members – the switch is on the back left wall. The light fees are $6 per 30 minutes per court.

You can make Light and Visitor payments to the following account:

Victoria Park Tennis Club              BSB: 633000        ACC: 132682022

Please use the reference “Your surname, lights/visitor, date” (ie. Lindeman Visitor 23 Mar)

We encourage you to use the online system to “reserve a court”, to avoid booking clashes with other members, social groups and coaching classes. The system will automatically charge you the appropriate light fees for the time you have booked. You can also nominate the people you will play with using the “add player” feature, and the guest payment will be included too.

This is a gentle reminder that the Club is run by volunteers. We operate on an honesty system,      and rely on members doing the right thing. Please help us out with this.

The committee is looking forward to a great year ahead, and we’ll continue to keep you updated.

Enjoy your tennis over the next couple of months, as the weather cools off following a very warm Summer.
