Citizen of the Year 2025🌟

On Sunday 26th January the Shire of Cranbrook celebrated Australia Day with a fun family breakfast and awards ceremony at the Cranbrook Sporting Club.

We were thrilled to learn that our fabulous President Chris Tomlinson was awarded the 2025 Shire of Cranbrook Citizen of the Year— what a star he is and so deserving of this award🌟

Congratulations to all nominees and winners, thank you for making the Shire of Cranbrook such a special place to live, work and play🎾

Excerpts from our nomination for Chris's award:

The Tomlinson Family arrived at “Chinninup” Tenterden, 12 years ago. How lucky are we to have the Tomlinson’s in our community!

Chris is a vital member of the Tenterden Tennis Club. His contribution to the club over the past 5 years as President has been integral to our recent growth and achievements.

Chris personifies our club mission of connecting people through a fun, engaging and varied tennis offering. He brings new members to the club. He enthusiastically promotes Tenterden TC within the community— encouraging everyone to come along and he loves a fun tennis format especially one that involves the whole family.

Community is forefront for Chris and the Tomlinson family. They understand how important thriving clubs are to the social fabric of our rural lives. I remember a conversation with Chris where he commented that his commitment to the club was motivated by wanting his girls to grow up in a club/community environment— “I volunteer because it’s my way of giving back to our community. I enjoy being part of a variety of clubs and groups. I think it sets a good example for my kids and it’s nice to belong.”

Congratulations and thank you Chris for everything you do for our club and community💖
