COVID-19 update 27 Sep 2020

To our dear Templestowe Park Tennis Club Members, family and friends,

As you may have heard earlier today, tennis clubs in Metropolitan Melbourne will not be able to return to tennis under Step 2 of Victoria's roadmap out of COVD-19 lockdown, despite Tennis Victoria lobbying hard to allow recreational play to resume from September 28. While this is very disappointing news, and no doubt all of us are itching to get back on court as soon as possible, Premier Daniel Andrews indicated the Victorian Government expects Metropolitan Melbourne to meet the requirements for Step 3 of the roadmap by October 19 – around one week sooner than initially thought – which should see community sport return as per the advancements made by Regional Victoria.

With this in mind, we hope to be able to reopen the club in 3 weeks time provided all goes as planned. TPTC would like to thank our community for your ongoing support during the ups and downs of the COVID-19 lockdowns, and we cannot wait to be able to have you back hitting and enjoying our great sport very soon. The committee already has a COVID Safe plan prepared and ready to go, so we will have the necessary documents and processes in place to open back up as soon as tennis is given the green light.

Until then, stay tuned to our Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/TemplestoweParkTennisClub) for some fun ways for players of all ages to enjoy tennis at home over the coming weeks. We’ll also be keeping a close eye on the French Open (Sep 27-Oct 11) and posting updates – so make sure you join in the conversation!

Please take care of yourselves and your families during this time. If you have any questions or queries, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Kind regards,

TPTC Committee
