Sydney University Lawn Tennis Club (SULTC) is one of the oldest and most prestigious tennis clubs in Australia. Founded in 1885, SULTC has a rich history and a long-standing reputation for excellence in both social and competitive tennis. Members gain access to 8 natural grass courts and a clubhouse upon joining the club. Our picturesque courts are located on the university grounds between Manning House and Physics Road, providing the perfect setting for a game of tennis in the great outdoors.
At the Sydney University Lawn Tennis Club, we offer a range of activities to suit players of all levels. We organize social tennis three days a week, giving members the chance to meet new people, improve their game and have fun in a relaxed setting. We also provide match play for all levels, so you can test your skills against other players and improve your game.
For Sydney Uni students, we offer the chance to represent the university in national competitions. You can take part in the annual Australian University Games and the Eastern Australian University Games, competing against other universities and showcasing your skills on a national stage.
We close our courts from December to February for lawn recovery, but we’re open for play the rest of the year. So why not join our vibrant community of tennis enthusiasts today? Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a beginner, we welcome players of all levels and look forward to seeing you on the court!
For the safety of casual and competitive players and the care of the courts, players MUST
wear:
Tennis shoes appropriate for lawn courts. Shoes with a herringbone sole or flat sole must be
worn. Shoes made for natural surfaces are preferred.

Players MUST NOT wear:
Any shoe that is likely to cause damage to the surface of the tennis court shall not be worn. In
particular, no shoe with a ripple or studded sole or with a raised heel shall be worn. Shoes
