Southlands Tennis Club

Nestled in the heart of Woden Valley, Southlands Tennis Club has been a vibrant part of the Canberra tennis community since its official opening in July 1976. Located near the Southlands Shopping Centre in Mawson, the club offers easy access, ample parking, and proximity to public transport, the Woden Town Centre, and Canberra Hospital.

Celebrating 49 years of tennis in 2025, Southlands is proud to be affiliated with Tennis ACT and guided by the policies of Tennis Australia, including the National Member Protection Policy and Safeguarding Children Code of Conduct. We are a not-for-profit, community-focused club run by a dedicated volunteer committee.

Our facilities include:

• 🎾 Four synthetic courts (two with lighting)
• 🧱 A hitting wall
• 🏠 A welcoming clubhouse

We cater to players of all standards and promote tennis at all levels—from casual social play to structured coaching and competitive opportunities. You don’t need to be a member to enjoy a hit at Southlands—just book online and come along!

Thanks to generous support from the ACT Government, Tennis Australia, Tennis ACT, and the Mawson Club, we’ve recently upgraded our facilities, including new LED lighting, sight screens, gates, and a fully automated defibrillator.

We would like to especially shout out the below:

• the Member for Bean, Mr David Smith MP, and the Commonwealth Government for a grant of $2500 under the 2022 Stronger Communities Programme, for the purchase of a fully automated defibrillator 
• the ACT Government for its $30,000 grant for energy-efficient LED lighting under the 2020 Sport & Recreation Capital Assistance Program
• the MAWSON CLUB for its generous donations as part of its community purpose contributions program: 2021 - 4 new sight screens/windbreaks and 2024 - new double gates and fencing.
