Lisa Harrison, Kurt Best named WGTA Life Members

Wellington Gippsland Tennis Association celebrated 100 years of tennis within Wellington Shire with a Gala Dinner on February 28.

Held upstairs at Graze Bistro, guests were treated to some wonderful tennis memories as former players mingled with the current cohort.

Sale Tennis Club Junior President Kurt Best did a marvelous job as MC for the night while the other speakers were Bruce Carter, Gregor McNaughton, Chris McMahon and WGTA President Michael Smith.

Sale Tennis Club was delighted to welcome many from our committee as well as Life Members Bruce Carter, Helen Gerrand, Jan Saville, Gary Schuback, Betty Flint, Robin Lowe, Chris Deschepper, Karen Deschepper, Di Arnot and Murray Fitzclarence.

Other Sale Tennis Club players attending were Kerri Brown, Melanie Bach, Phil Mein, Lisa and Steve Harrison, Debbie Iseppi, Wendy and Norbert Fuessel and Jo Rule.

A highlight of the night was the induction of 2 Sale superstar administrators Kurt Best and Lisa Harrison as Life Members of the WGTA.

They join Don Schuback, John McKinnon, Lorna Bailey and Gregor McNaughton in a very select group of Life Members.

Lisa is a former WGTA President and has continued to work tirelessly for the benefit of the Association for nearly 2 decades. She is always at the forefront of debate and is passionate about district and Monday Ladies tennis.

Kurt is the current Vice-President of the Association and is now the go-to person on district tennis, frequently organising fill-ins for other clubs as well as for the Sale teams. Kurt has streamlined the selection and draw process turning the annual grading day from a nightmare to a breeze.

Congratulations from Sale Tennis Club to our two WGTA “super stars”.
