Sale Tennis Club will host a Tennis Seniors Victoria event this weekend, May 22 - 24, 2026.

In a major format change there will be a National Rankings tournament and a teams event over the 3 days of the event.

There will be a Tennis Seniors National Ranking singles tournament on Friday May 22. The singles tournament draw is based on age groups starting from 30 and over upward to 75 and over. Players are playing for National Ranking Points that will help them qualify for further national and international seniors events later in the year. These singles events have gained interest from metropolitan and interstate players in previous years and the club is hoping to attract a strong field again for 2026.

Tennis Seniors Victoria will then explore a new format for Days 2 and 3 of the tournament. Saturday and Sunday will become a teams event with no age limitations. Teams of four can be all male, all female or unisex and both Over 30 and Under 30 teams are catered for. Teams can represent their local club, be a group of friends or can be made up of any other combination of players. Teams will be graded based on the aggregate of the Universal Tennis Rankings (UTR) of the team members.

The new team format is based on the hugely successful Country Week formula where groups of friends are able to join together to play as a team. The playing format will also mirror Country Week with a doubles only program that sees each player complete two sets to a maximum of 8 games per rubber.
