Regular Weekly Bookings Policy

The Reid Tennis Club has used regular weekly bookings so players can be assured of a regular social game. However, this facility is not as necessary now we have introduced the electronic book a court system. Booking sufficiently ahead almost always results in court availability close to the desired time. However, tennis in Canberra is booming, particularly at Reid, leading to greater court demand. Booking opportunities should be fair to all members.

There are many long standing regular weekly bookings. These will remain as they cater for mainly older club members, providing them with an important regular social activity. There are no compelling reasons to upset these long term arrangements as there are currently sufficient casual booking opportunities. However, too much of an expansion in regular bookings at times of high demand may make it difficult for one-off bookings to find a suitable slot in the schedule. To be fair to all members, it is incumbent on holders of regular bookings to make sure their booking is fully utilised, particularly at times of high demand.

For new regular weekly bookings, the policy will be different depending on court demand. Peak demand is from 4pm to 8pm on weekdays and daylight hours on weekends. Applications for a new regular weekly booking slot will generally be approved outside peak times, but not during peak times unless there are strong reasons. Factors that will be considered are the number of courts remaining available for one-off bookings, the number of regular players per court, evidence of a regular weekly play pattern, and a willingness to accept new players into the group.

For regular weekly bookings, all players who normally play need to be club members. For an occasional non member, the leader of the group should collect $5 per hour and pay into the Reid Tennis Club bank account (BSB 062-910, Account number 00800145) or ask the player to pay directly into the account. For groups that play under lights, $10 per court hour should be paid into the club account at regular intervals.
 

Temporary Cancellation of Court

If a court is not going to be used on a particular week, the group should email the club at ReidTennisClubACT@gmail.com as early as possible, and the club will cancel the booking for that week, enabling others to book.

Regular weekly bookings should be reviewed periodically, and amended as required.
