Club President Sue Willis reported another very successful year for Reid Tennis Club, highlighting recent awards. The Club was a finalist for Tennis ACT’s Most Outstanding Tennis Club or Venue 2025. The Club’s Assistant Secretary, Michael Poole, received Tennis ACT’s Beyond Bank Volunteer Award 2025. She thanked all the Committee and numerous volunteers who continue to work hard for the Club, making it a premier club within the ACT.

A number of social events were held throughout the year, including: Wimbledon at Reid; Xmas Party for Members and Reid Residents; and various fundraising activities to support Timor-Leste Kids Tennis. POP Tennis was successfully trialled and is now a popular addition to social tennis on Sunday afternoons.

The Club had 286 members at 30 June 2025, with healthy numbers in the Over 80’s and Young Adult categories, demonstrating that tennis can be enjoyed at all ages. Over two-thirds of these members have renewed for the current year and membership is tracking the same as previous years.

During the reporting period, Reid Tennis Club had excellent member participation in the seasonal Tennis ACT Walking Clinic Adult Tennis League, with a total of 30 Reid teams in the Monday/Tuesday, Thursday night, and Saturday afternoon competitions.

Throughout the year, the Club undertook needed repair work on the clubhouse, continued renovation of the pergola, upgraded clubhouse furnishings, and rejuvenated the garden. The Club’s website has also been upgraded to make it more user-friendly.

Financially the Club is in a very sound position, ensuring it can provide for future maintenance and upgrades to the courts and surroundings for the benefit of all members and players.
