Junior Competition
Welcome to Junior Competition at PLTC — a fun, friendly and supportive environment where young players of all levels can grow their skills, enjoy team tennis and be part of our club community. Whether your child is new to competition or returning for another season, we’re excited to help them learn, improve and experience the joy of playing together.
Junior Competition is organised by Tennis Geelong and runs over two seasons – Winter and Summer. The Summer season generally runs from October through to March, and the Winter season from May to September, with a break during the school holidays.
Matches are held on Saturday mornings at either at Point Lonsdale TC or at another club within the Geelong region. Start times are approximately 8am, 9am or 10am and matches usually take 1.5 to 2 hours. You can opt to play one season, or both each year.
Teams are made up of four to six players of similar ability, with four players rostered on each week. Every round includes four singles sets and two doubles sets.
We offer teams across all levels, with Orange Ball for young beginners, Green Ball for developing players, and Yellow Ball for more experienced competitors.
Players are expected to be available for the full season. If you’re away or unavailable on a particular week, your team may have enough players to help organise a fill-in. Please note that withdrawing mid-season isn’t ideal and should only happen for a genuine reason.
Throughout the season, players can view the ladder here.
NEW PLAYERS: If you’re joining Junior Competition for the first time, please include a brief description of your playing ability on the registration form. We’ll be in touch if we need more information or will liaise with your coach. For returning players, we look at Match Centre results to help place you in the most suitable section.
CLUB MEMBERSHIP: Players must hold a current PLTC tennis membership. Fees must be paid in full before the start of the season to take part in competition.
CPP AND UTR: Every player needs to have a completed Competitive Play Profile (CPP) which includes a Tennis Australia ID (an 11-digit number) and an activated Universal Tennis Ranking (UTR) in order to play competition tennis. You’ll need your child’s Tennis ID when completing the registration form. It’s essential that each player has both a completed CPP and an activated UTR; without these, any points they earn will be forfeited, affecting the overall team result. Simply follow the prompts here.
2026 WINTER PENNANT: Registrations for the 2026 Junior Winter Competition are now open and close Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
The 2026 Winter season dates, played on Saturdays, are:

You can request to be placed in a team with friends during registration. We do our best to make this happen, though it depends on grading and overall player numbers in each section.
Please make sure your email address is entered correctly on the registration form otherwise you might miss out on season updates.
Players who register after the closing date may miss out on being placed in a team. All players must be under 18 years of age as of October 1 to be eligible to play.
