Play Well Tennis’ mission is to inspire people to play, compete and be involved in tennis. This starts at childhood (from 5 years old) by providing lessons in a fun and supportive environment where children feel safe and motivated to explore and participate in tennis-based activities.
Our junior tennis program is based on Tennis Australia’s Hot Shots Tennis – a staged approach to learning the game using modified equipment and court sizes to allow children (5 – 12+ years old) to play tennis at their ability and interest level.
Play Well Tennis designs lessons for children to not only learn the game of tennis, but to foster the development of key cognitive, social, emotional and physical skills to be carried on throughout their life.
Play Well Tennis runs several Hot Shots Tennis classes. Each class is delivered by Head Coach - Mark Pendlebury.
Each new student receives a Play Well Tennis Welcome Pack that includes:
- Hot Shots Tennis t-shirt (when you subscribe to Tennis Australia)
- Sweat band
- Racquet vibration dampener
- Hand ball
- Activity sticker book (for students 5-7 years old)

Wet weather policy
If a lesson/match play session has to be cancelled due to rain, your account will be credited with the cost of the session. We can refund the session if you prefer. A session is considered cancelled if less than half the lesson is completed. If possible, Play Well Tennis will send a text message to your nominated mobile number advising you a lesson is cancelled ahead of time.
What to bring to a lesson
- Racquet – If you don’t have one, no worries, we can provide one
- Runners and comfortable sports clothes
- Hat and sunscreen
- Water bottle
