On Friday, February 2, The Hon. Clare O'Neil visited Oakleigh Tennis Club.

Clare O'Neil is:

• The Federal Member for Hotham (the electorate that OTC is in)
• The Minister for Home Affairs
• The Minister for Cyber Security

In 2021, Clare recommended Oakleigh Tennis Club for a $10,000 federal grant in the Stronger Communities Program Round 7.

Our grant application was subsequently approved, and we received the $10,000 grant in April 2022.

20 recycled plastic bench seats were then manufactured by Replas and installed at the club in July 2022.

The outdoor defibrillator cabinet was installed at the club in June 2023 (with thanks to Rob Callander for getting the brackets fabricated).

These additions have made our courts safer and more comfortable, and this visit gave us the opportunity to personally thank Clare for recommending us for this grant and to show her how the funds have been put to good use.

During her visit, we presented Clare with a certificate of appreciation, she enjoyed a brief hit of tennis and chatted with many of the members present.

We look forward to working with Clare and her team on more projects in the future.
