About us

We are a small friendly tennis club located in the historical township of Moonambel in the Pyrenees wine growing district approx. 18kms north of Avoca just off the Sunraysia Highway.

There were originally 3 tennis clubs in the immediate Moonambel area – Tanwood Tennis Club, St Paul’s Tennis Club and Moonambel Tennis Club.  With falling numbers Moonambel & Tanwood Tennis Club combined and we are proud to be still going today.  Moonambel Tanwood Tennis Club was previously associated with the Landsborough & District Tennis Association which included Landsborough, Landsborough West, Navarre & Barkly.  The Landsborough Association disbanded and Moonambel Tanwood tennis club decided to keep going and joined the Maryborough & District Tennis Association in approximately 1994.

Moonambel Tanwood tennis club is made up of players from the local and surrounding areas including Avoca, Lexton & Maryborough, we are people that enjoy competitive but social tennis.
Our team competes in the Maryborough & District Tennis Association competition on Saturday afternoons 1pm to 5pm from Oct to March each year.  We have one A Reserve team and the team for Saturday is made up of 3 men and 3 women who play 3 men’s sets, 3 women’s sets and 3 mixed sets for the day.

Our courts have just been resurfaced, new fences, drainage work and nets in 2012 and we are looking forward to another fun season on the new courts.

We also have a BBQ & pergola area to enjoy some socializing after the matches.
