Open Day Success

The Australian Open Family Day on the courts was a huge success with over 60 people joining the fun.  The friendly welcoming vibe set the scene for an afternoon and evening of entertainment.

The junior tennis players were carefully orchestrated by Head Coach Jani with the assistance of our new practice machine and helpers on the court.  The other courts were full of new (and old) tennis players either trying the sport for the first time, or practicing their 'A' game.

Our exhibition match between Jani Kroyherr, Ross Doherty, Glen Smith and John Bradshaw was a high standard game with a big and enthusiastic audience, so well done gentlemen.

Kerri and Chris from the local Pickle Ball club gave us a demonstration of the game, informed us of the rules and fundamentals.  It was of keen interest with many people joining in.  Thanks for their support and hopefully they'll enjoy an increase in numbers at the high school auditorium on Monday evenings.

John Rosenfel, ably assisted by Alicia provided a great BBQ for all and added to the family day atmosphere.  It was very pleasing to see so many of all ages enjoying the sport and the comraderie.

Thanks to Tennis Queensland's Christine and Arnias for their support on the day, and to Local Member Andrew Powell who took to the court and spent time in the kitchen helping out.  We might see you on the court in the future Andrew?

One of the highlights of the day was the open air screening of the Men's Final which was a great success and one to be repeated for sure.
