CLUB HISTORY

Main Ridge Tennis Club was formed in 1932. A small group of locals got together and cleared the land, then using bush poles and rabbit netting fencing formed 2 courts.

Tennis was a common family  Sunday afternoon activity for the local farming families in the 1930's 1940's & 1950's.

The clubrooms prior to 1992 were a cement sheet clad building that was shared with the cricket club for many years.

In 1991 this club house was demolished and a lovely new one built, thanks to members of the tennis club. Bob Rollings played a major part in organising / overseeing the works, with other members giving a hand  on different parts of the build.

Secondhand bricks were donated to the club and stored at Gordon Gibson's, were working bees were held to clean the bricks prior to the being used in the new clubhouse.

The courts over the years have seen a few surface changes. From  Gravel courts to Ashphalt then came Plexipave before the club resurfaced in 2002 and layed Synthetic Grass.
