About Us
Our History
Keen to establish a local tennis complex, interested citizens met in 1966 to form a general committee. Le Page Tennis Club was founded, with the club’s inaugural meeting held in March of that same year.
The initial proposed plan was for five porous courts and a club house. A co-operative was formed to raise the funds required for the project, and the process was underway.
A seven year lease was attained from the council for use of the land. Three courts were opened for play in January 1968, with competitive matches beginning from April of that year. The club house was likewise completed in April and its first meeting held in that month.
Courts 4 and 5 were completed in 1970, with the addition of floodlights in 1973 allowing for night matches. The grounds took on their current layout when court 6 was built in 1975.
