Club Update - January 2022

It is an exciting time for the Club with the B Grade Doubles team recently winning the Grand Final in the Northwest Tennis League in November 2021 , along with the submission of a grant application to replace the aging court surface.

Social tennis continues to be popular with spaces available in the Tuesday and Thursday night sessions, 5:30pm-7:00pm and 7:00pm-8:30pm.  This is a great way to play and meet others in a social setting that can accommodate all ages and abilities.

The Club has several events planned over the coming months and these include:

• The Latrobe Tennis Club Open Day – A popular day on the social calander for the Club to dust off the rackets, or for beginners to come and try tennis in a social setting with a range of events on offer, including a BBQ and prizes.  A great family event expected in February/March.

• Pickleball – Come and try the game which is the taking the world by storm.  We are working with Pickleball Tasmania to bring this game to Latrobe in late February/early March.  Could you be the first Tasmanian to represent Australia at the 2032 Olympics?

• Pop Tennis – The new existing and fun variation of the game which is enjoyed by players of all abilities.  We are currently working with Tennis Tasmania to host a "come and try" day.

 • Team Tennis – Is starting on the 8 February 2022 @ 4:45pm - 5:30pm.  This is a program aimed at juniors between 6 - 12 yrs old to play and develop the foundations of tennis in a fun, supportive, and social environment.  Also, parents are welcome to join in as well!  The cost of the event is $4 per session for non-members, and $2 for members.
