Latrobe Tennis Club Update - 31 May 2022

The Latrobe Tennis Club held a Pickleball ‘Come and Try Day’ on the 1 May with approximately 25 people taking part.  Pickleball is a low-impact sport that is easy to learn and play at any age and is one of the fastest growing sports worldwide.

The Club plans to offer Pickleball permanently, and it is currently taking registrations for a round robin type roster.

The Club’s Team Tennis Programme has concluded and was well attended with up to 15 children attending.  It will be hosted again later this year, and it is a great introduction to tennis for children aged between 4-12 years of age.

A priority for the Club has been the renewal of the courts which has been talked about for some 20 odd years.  The Club is in discussions with the Council and other parties to raise the funds required to bring this project to fruition.  The Club has setup a fundraising page through the Australian Sports Foundation: https://asf.org.au/projects/latrobe-tennis-club-inc and all donations over $2 are tax deductable.

The Latrobe Tennis Club AGM is scheduled for the 7 July 2022 @ 7:30pm at the club.   All committee positions are up for nomination and we encourage all members to come along.   Nomination forms can be obained from the Club Secretary, Jamie Fawkner, or by emailing the club: Latrobetennisclub@gmail.com.   This is a great way for members to get involved and shape the future direction of the club.
