Finals Rules
KDJTA FINALS Rules
All finals dates set at the beginning of the season cannot be changed.
During finals, team managers are expected to ensure every player has time on court. Our goal is for every child to feel valued and to enjoy the experience of contributing to their team’s success.
We encourage everyone - players, families, and supporters, to get behind all players on the day. No matter the score, our focus is on helping our young players enjoy their matches, play fairly, and finish the day feeling proud to have been a part of it.
We thank all families and carers for the support you give your children and for helping them enjoy tennis throughout the season.
The KDJTA Committee
Who can play?
- Teams must play with the same registered players that have played throughout the season.
- If a team needs a fill-in player for finals they must have been registered as a fill-in player for their team in Match Centre, and have played 3 matches throughout the season.
- If a team does not have the required number of qualified players on a given day, the committee may exercise discretion to approve a suitable replacement.
Player Positions
- Players must play as the numbered position that they have played the most, after round 5.
- When a team position is shared, during finals, one player from the shared position plays the singles set only, while the other plays the doubles sets only, ensuring all players take the court.
- Players must complete the entire set they begin (no substitution during the set).
Semi Finals
- 1st team plays 4th team; 2nd plays 3rd team. Home team to provide new tennis balls appropriate for their section.
- If Semi Finals are a washout the top 2 teams (positions 1 and 2 on the ladder) would automatically go through to the Grand Final.
- If the committee representative declares a washout all league semi finals will be declared a washout.
Grand Finals
- Winners of Semi Final matches.
- K&DJTA will provide new tennis balls appropriate to each section.
- Each team must complete their team sheet in full before play commences.
- In the event of a washout, the match is to be started or resumed the following day. If unable to be played the next day the winner will be the team who was higher on the ladder prior to the finals.
Umpiring:
- Pennant, Sections 1, 2 and 3 will umpire themselves, as has occurred throughout the season, with team managers to act as referees if a dispute arises.
- Section 4 and 5 matches are to be umpired by parents, one from each competing team.
Results:
- The winning team is decided by sets won first, then games won.
- The winning team must enter scores into Match Centre at the end of play. Both Team managers to approve.
- The winners of each section will receive trophies and medals will be awarded to the runners-up.
