History
The Knox City Tennis Club was foundered in November 1969 and was originally named the Studfield Tennis Club In 1977, it was renamed to Knox City Tennis Club. After 1987 the Club became an Incorporated Entity.
Knox City Tennis Club began competition in the Ferntree Gully & District Tennis Association until a switch to the fast growing Waverley & District Tennis Association in the late 1980s. We were also a founding club of the successful Victorian Tennis Association.
We began with two courts and approximately 20 members which grew to a peak of 500 in 1982 prior to establishment of other clubs in the area. During the late 80’s and 90’, the club fell into rapid decline due to drop in members and support. In April 2003, after a lot of hard work and commitment, Knox City Tennis Club rebounded and today is of the strongest Tennis Clubs in the Outer Eastern Tennis Community, with many Night Teams, Mid Week Ladies, Saturday Teams and a healthy membership for social play all contributing to a vigorous growth.
Knox City Tennis Club continues to grow and be a vibrant community sports club, enjoyed by many each and every week. Our courts are maintained to a high standard and will soon benefit by being lit by energy efficient LED Lights.
