TIPS ON WATERING THE COURT:

  • Aim the hose high at 90 – 110 degrees NOT straight down as it will create puddles
  • Allow the water to shower down onto the court surface like rain to gently soak
  • Water in the shape of an ‘S’ on both sides of the court (fence to fence)
  • Team work with one person on the tap and one person watering will work well especially when it is time to finish watering the court without puddles.

TIPS ON BAGGING THE COURT:

  • Encourage the members of your child’s team to bag the courts in a different direction each time bagging is completed (i.e. one time bag up and down the court, the next time bag side to side). This ensures that the en tout cas remains within the actual court.
  • Ensure that the ENTIRE court is bagged right up to the fence and not just within the court itself.
  • Additionally, once bagging has been completed, please encourage or assist the players to hang the bagger onto the hooks that are attached to the fence. This removes the chance of your child tripping over the bagger and hurting themselves during a match.

Season 2, 2023

Saturday morning  - Moorabbin Districts junior Tennis Association

Section 5 Boys  - Our team narrowly lost in the Grand Final by a single Game point against Highmoor. Throughout the season the matches between these two top teams were extremely close. I understand that Cooper Hodge in the Team playing at No.4 took out Best Performing Player of the Section.

Section 6 Boys - Our team dominated the competition all season but in the Grand Final their opposition Highett stepped up and the teams were tied after normal play.  A tiebreaker Doubles set was played with our boys pulling through 6-4. Congratulations to Matthew Peng, Miles Hancox, U-Zin Goh, Olver Tzounos and Morgan Graham. Matthew playing at No.1 also took out the best performing player of the Section.

Section 12 Boys - This team also dominated their competition all season but faced a tough battle in the final. The Boys came through with a narrow win which is a great achievement for many of the team were new to competition play. Congratulations to Morgan Shin, Matthias Cheng, Jun Lee, Zachary Forner and Adrien Xie. Morgan also won best performing player of the Section and Jun picked up his second premiership flag after also being part of the successful Section 16 Sunday team.

Sunday morning Bayside Regional tennis Association  Junior Competition

Showery conditions greeted our six teams playing Sunday Junior Competition Grand Finals. All matches were completed, despite some late changes in venue and delays.

Firstly, having six (6) out of eleven (11) Sunday teams make finals was a fantastic result in itself.  We had two tams win their Section Premiership, namely:
Section 16 - Declan Zeng, Jude Horschener, Logan Xia, Tav Bai, Jun Lee
Section 19 Team Blue -  Lucas Huang, Krishna Alturi, Siddath Basa, Arav Nambier, George Si.
The Section 16 team are a close unit of only four players who have been playing together for a number of season now but always fallen a little of Final's success. They were helped this season by "super sub" Jun Lee who plays on Saturday and has always been willing to put his hand up and very late notice to help the Sunday team out, including in the finals  To win today was a great outcome particularly given that a number of players will be taking a break next season.

The Section 19 Blue Team on the other hand do not know what losing means. All five of the team started competition play at the start of the year and formed a great combination winning their Section in Autumn Competition. This Season was no different however the Finals Match was extremely close being decided on cumulative Games 29 to 28.

Our four other teams competing today all lost in very close rubbers/matches that could have gone either way. The Section 11 Team was as close as it gets with the match totally tied on Sets and Games at the end of normal play. A Tiebreaker involving one doubles team was required to determine the winner which we just could not get across the line. The Le Page team they played was the dominant team throughout the season and to get that close on Finals day was an incredible effort.

Thanks to Paul and Yvette Zaal and Ben Eden and the other coaches for co-ordinating and training our junior players.
