Rules & Procedures for Competitive Play – As of January 2023
Instacomp – Wednesday Evening play commences at 6pm and finishes by 9.30pm.
Winter Saturday afternoon play to commence at 1pm and finish 10 minutes after sunset.
Payment ($10) for the day or night’s tennis should be made immediately on arrival and before play commences in the clubhouse either in cash or via EFT.
Membership must be current and can be paid online at gunnedahtennis.com.au or in the clubhouse.
Saturday afternoon players’ full names are to be entered on the score sheet. Instacomp draw is generated by committee members in the clubhouse.
Play commences after toss. Sets are first to six with an advantage of two. If score is 5 all, tie breaker is played, with first to seven with an advantage of two.
At completion of play the captain, or another team member, of each team should sign the tallied score sheet. Or in the case of instacomp – the score should be recorded against the set played on the draw sheet.
Tallied and signed score sheet to be placed in post box at front door of clubhouse. Balls to be placed in ball slot near office in clubhouse.
Washouts: If play is washed out within one hour of commencement of play, money will be refunded.
Substitutes (Saturday comp): During preliminary rounds, if a player is unable to play it is their responsibility to inform their captain and to find a substitute player from the teams’ list supplied to each player.
- The substitute player should be of an equal or lesser grading.
- Name of the substitute player, and the player they are replacing, to be written on back of score sheet.
- Substitute player must be a financial member of the Gunnedah Tennis Club Inc.
- Semi Final, Final or Grand Final: substitute player must have played three matches during the winter competition, or two in the spring or autumn competition, and be of an equal or lesser grading.
Forfeits: If your team forfeits, you must contact:
- A committee member
- The opposing team’s captain
- The remainder of your team
If two or more teams finish the preliminary rounds equal on points, a count back on sets then games will determine the semi-final positions. In the event of a tie in a semi-final, final or grand final, the higher point scored team will be declared the winner of that match.
