Grenville tennis club was first established in 1933, as one of the founding clubs in the Garibaldi and District Tennis Association.
The local competition consisted of teams from Grenville, Scotsburn, Garibaldi and the Buninyong Methodists Church. After the second World War, the association continued as the Buninyong and District Tennis Association. Grenville Tennis Club is the only club to have competed in every season in the history of the Association.
Tennis has, and continues to be, one of the key links for the Grenville community.
In 2008, the club celebrated 75 years of tennis at Grenville.
After falling into disrepair in 2014, the senior team managed to continue to play Saturday competition, by using other clubs courts.
Children of the district continued to use the Grenville courts for Nature Playgroups, where they would catch tadpoles and wade around the edges of the courts.
A joint funding venture in 2016 between the club and the local council, saw the replacement of the old asphalt courts with new hardcourt surfacing. This sparked a revival of interest from the community, who established junior coaching, which then led to the formation of junior teams for the district's competition.
