Government House Tennis Court Booking Terms and Conditions
Tennis purposes only
The tennis courts at the venue are only to be used for the purpose of recreational tennis. You are not permitted to use the tennis courts at the venue for any activity other than recreational tennis without prior written agreement of the Office.
Access to the venue
Access to the bowling / croquet green will only be permitted for the date and time specified within your booking confirmation. Access will be granted 10 minutes prior to 10 minutes after your booking time. Entry and exit (whether by vehicle or on foot) is via the Main Gate on Lower Domain Road. Please ring the buzzer at the driveway for Security to let you in. Security will meet you at the top of the driveway and direct you to the green. Government House beyond the enclosed green is out of bounds, excepting for use of the Portaloo that is clearly marked with signage. (Note: 24/7 CCTV cameras operate at Government House.)
Pricing
The court booking fee is set by the Office. Payment for all bookings must be made in advance.
Additional charges
You agree to be charged an additional amount in accordance with the Office’s court booking fees for every additional hour, or part thereof, of use of the tennis courts at the venue.
Tennis Equipment
The Office does not provide racquets or balls as part of the court hire.
Refund Policy
You may cancel your booking by logging into your Book a Court profile. Cancellations made prior to 48 hours before the time booked to play tennis will receive a refund to the credit card provided for the booking. The Office has absolute discretion on whether to provide a refund for any cancellations made within 48 hours of the time booked to play tennis. The Office reserves the right to cancel your booking at any time. If the Office cancels your booking, you have the option to reschedule to an alternative time or be provided with a refund.
Weather
The ability of the courts to be used can be dependent on the weather. If the weather is deemed unsuitable the Office will cancel the booking, and you will have the option to reschedule or be provided with a refund.
Children
Children under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
Damage
Users of the tennis courts must not damage, deface or mark any part of the venue. You agree that you will be fully responsible and liable to Office for any damage caused by you to the venue.
Other users
A maximum of 10 players/spectators in total are allowed per court. You agree that you must ensure all users of the venue included as part of your booking comply with these terms and conditions. You agree that you will remain fully responsible and liable to the Office under these terms and conditions for any breach of these terms and conditions by any user of the venue included as part of your booking.
Refreshments
Players are welcome to bring snacks and non-alcohol refreshments into the venue. The possession or consumption of alcohol within the venue is prohibited. Attendees who bring alcohol will be asked to leave. Food or drinks may not be consumed on the courts.
Safety
It is a condition that users of the tennis courts undertake to use the facilities in a safe and cautious manner at all times. All users of the venue included as part of your booking must be made aware of the heritage roses and other foliage surrounding the court that have spines or other protrusions. If tennis balls roll under the foliage, the tennis ball pick-up tube provided should be used to retrieve the balls. An AED is available from the security office.
Risk Warning
You acknowledge that by using the tennis courts you will be exposed to certain risks, including the risk of physical injury, and that use of the tennis courts is entirely at your own risk. You have voluntarily read and understood this risk warning and accept and assume the inherent risks in use of the tennis courts.
Release
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to release and discharge the Office and its officers, employees, volunteers and agents from all liability in respect of any loss or damage you may suffer from use of the tennis courts.
Player Etiquette
Please take all your rubbish with you and leave the tennis court and facilities tidy for the next players to use and enjoy. Residential cottages and houses within the grounds are occupied. Players are required to keep noise to a reasonable level and keep your movements within the Estate to the tennis courts and to / from the Portaloos. Roaming around the Estate is not permitted. Alcohol and smoking are not permitted within the venue.
Footwear
All users must wear appropriate tennis footwear at all times when using the tennis courts at the venue.
Governor visits
If Her Excellency and/or Professor Chalmers visit the tennis courts, players should use the appropriate terms “Your Excellency” and “Professor Chalmers” in conversation.
Privacy
You consent to the collection, storage, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with the tennis privacy statement and the tennis privacy policy, which contains information about how you may access and seek correction of your personal information, how you can complain about a breach of your privacy, and how the complaint will be dealt with.
Government House personnel
Government House is monitored electronically and by foot patrol by Security Guards.

Definitions
Office means the Office of the Governor of Tasmania, responsible for managing the venue. Venue means the Government House tennis court precinct.
