Evan O'Neil was a remarkable individual whose impact on the tennis community is remembered fondly by all who knew him.   He began his tennis career in Gloucester, where his talent on the court was evident from an early age.   At just 12 years old, he played representative tennis alongside us, a time that marked the beginning of a lifelong friendship.   From those early days, Evan demonstrated the qualities that made him stand out—not just as an exceptional tennis player, but as a friend, teammate, and person.

Evan's enthusiasm for tennis and life was infectious, making every moment spent with him a cherished memory. Evan's presence was a cornerstone of the tennis community; he embodied the spirit of the sport, combining fierce competitiveness with a genuine love for the game and mateship.

The Evan O'Neil Mens Open event is more than just a tennis tournament—it’s a celebration of everything Evan stood for.   We decided to sponsor this event because Evan was the first among us to win it, and it seemed fitting to honour his legacy in this way.   The tournament reflects what Evan loved most about tennis: the joy of the game, the camaraderie, and the creation of lasting memories.   While the competition is intense, it’s the fun, country atmosphere that truly captures the essence of what Evan represented.  Through this event, we aim to keep Evan’s spirit alive, celebrating not just his achievements on the court, but the way he lived his life—with passion, friendship, and a love for making memories.
