Our History

 - exerts from "Glenview Mooloolah Tennis Club Inc Celebrating 85 years - 2012" by Jenny Morris.

In 1926 Mr Ewen Maddock donated a 2 acre parcel of his land for community use and the Glenview Public Hall Committee quickly followed.    The Glenview Hall Tennis Club was formed on Sunday 22 May 1927 at a meeting of players, with approval to build courts on the grounds given at the Glenview Public Hall meeting on 24 May 1927.

It appears the courts were not built at the time with the first records stating construction of ant bed courts at our location began many years later in 1963 and were opened in 1964 by Ewen Maddock and Cr Ted Pierce from Landsborough Shire Council.  These courts were rented by the tennis club from the Glenview Public Hall committee. Courts were east/west oriented which proved to be tricky in the sunlight.  It is believed the Glenview Hall Tennis Club members initially played at the Glenview School court, officially opened 13 June 1920, after construction provided Mr Ewen Maddock, and his committee of the Empire Tennis Club.

As Jenny's book attests, It is the result of much work from many locals over the years following to have  the facility we all enjoy today.
