Introduction

A Proud Club with a Proud History

Glenburn Tennis Club was formed in 1980 and started with a group of tennis enthusiasts who were playing at the Syndal community hall. The club recently celebrated 40 years of tennis. Over the years thousands of tennis players have joined the club and created great relationships. Our success has been based upon our open acceptance of players from all standards of play and from many different backgrounds as well as our sporting ethics of respect, sportsmanship, and enjoyment!

Today the club has 6 synthetic grass, all-weather floodlit courts, and its own clubhouse. We also have a practice hitting-wall and playground area. Our court upgrade in 2010 saw us lay our new synthetic grass-courts over our original en-tou-cas (clay) courts. The courts have fantastic water drainage, which ensures the rain is no barrier to playing at Glenburn!

Glenburn currently has over 300 members with a mix from ages 5 to 85! We are truly diverse groups with players and families from every continent in the world.
We are made up of beginner players all the way to a professional level, all players are treated equally and play with the same passion. The club is run by a volunteer committee made up of club members who are regularly involved with the club. Our goal is to make tennis accessible and to inform our members of club-events and the running of the competition and social play.

Our competition teams are played all week long from the weekend competition, junior competition, night competition, and midweek competition. We are one of the largest operating clubs in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne and have around 45 teams represent us each week. We have great pathways available to prepare our members for competitive tennis. On Saturday afternoons our club is represented by our Premier League tennis team, made up of coaches and others, who battle it out against some of the largest clubs in Victoria.

Our junior competition is supported and nurtured by our coach Lewis Miles, who works hard to support their games on weekends and is very active at the club. The coaching program runs every weekday for kids and adults, with several levels of group lessons and private lessons.

Social tennis is a great way to get started with tennis as well as being involved in a club environment. At Glenburn, we have Monday and Thursday morning social tennis with the possibility to open other days and times in the future.
