East Albury Tennis Club History
East Albury Tennis Club was originally formed on May 25, 1953 when 34 people including members of the East Albury and Newmarket Progress Association and two executive members of the Albury and Border Lawn Tennis Association met and formed the East Albury and Newmarket Tennis club. The official opening of the tennis courts occurred on May 2, 1954.
The first Clubhouse was an open-fronted building with a dirt floor commonly known as the tennis shed.
In May 1972, a transportable building was relocated from the old Albury Base Hospital and converted into the Clubhouse.
After much fundraising a new Clubhouse was completed in November 2014. The bulk of this money was raised from mixed Night Tennis and Mixed Social Tennis which is still happening today with great comradeship and friendships made. East Albury Tennis Club is known as a friendly and welcoming Club.
The Clubhouse has an alfresco area, built in barbecue, a kitchen with a servery window and Club room for players and spectators to shelter and find shade from the sun.
The Grand Opening was held on February 22nd 2015.
