Social Tennis Open Day 2 hours every Saturday from 10am to 12 noon on both courts of Copacabana Tennis Club from 18 November 2023 onwards.
It is my pleasure to announce that for the 1st time in its history, Copacabana Tennis Club will be providing ORGANIZED SOCIAL TENNIS for its members. We have proposed SATURDAY MORNINGS FROM 10am-12noon as the most likely time for families and players of all ages and levels of tennis skill to gather for a game of social tennis.
Social Tennis Open Day is following into the footsteps of Copa Social Tennis events which were started in November 2022 by the group of enthusiastic club members as self-funded events held every 2-3 months over past 12 months (see articles published in Copa Life magazine https://www.flipsnack.com/copalife/copalife-issue-18.html and https://www.flipsnack.com/copalife/copalife-issue-20.html and Coast Community News https://coastcommunitynews.com.au/central-coast/news/2022/12/come-dressed-as-your-favourite-tennis-player/, also soon to be posted on the Club website).
The Social Tennis Open Day will be run by the Subcommittee for Social Tennis (initial line-up: valued member Isabella Fung, Club Secretary Alan Wilcock and myself, but more volunteers are needed and all members are welcome to approach us with expressions interest to joint this group). Weekly sessions will last 2 HOURS, will be held on BOTH COURTS and will be FREE FOR CLUB MEMBERS (initially). NON-MEMBERS will also be welcome ($5 per person, payable at the gates), but will be encouraged to join the Club after 1st visit. FREE ENTRY for JUNIORS UNDER 16 YEARS of age. The Club will provide FREE TENNIS BALLS.
Depending on the level of interest and attendance, we are hoping to open up more time slots during the week (morning, afternoon or evening) for club organized social tennis play (a.k.a. Mid-week men’s and/or ladies) later in the season. Feel free to write to us or approach us to discuss further.
Competitive play (flexible singles and doubles and club Championships) is also in preparation. More about that and many other exciting tennis related news, read very soon in the upcoming emails from your Club Committee.
