Coburg Tennis Club is one of the oldest Tennis Clubs in Australia, having formed in 1890 next to the notorious H.M Prison Pentridge and moving to its current location in Bush Reserve, Coburg in 1954.
Over our 130+ years we have served the development of many Australian greats in the sport, including champions such as multi-Grand Slam winner and International Hall of Famer Ashley Cooper, and Grand Slam finalist and Davis Cup champion Mark Philippoussis. The Club has also serviced players who have played or are playing on the satellite circuits both here in Australia and overseas, including our Coach-in-residence Taso Vasiliadis, a former member of Greece's Davis Cup squad.
At Coburg Tennis Club, our mission is to make tennis accessible to the local community of the City of Merri-bek, and provide an avenue for competitive and social play.
We were honoured to be recognised as the Most Outstanding Tennis Club or Centre in the 2022 Victorian Tennis Awards, owing to the rich set of community and social programs we have on offer.
Our Facilities and Programs
We operate 6 full-size en-tout cas (clay) courts, all lit for night play. Two of these are also fully equipped for disabled access. We also operate 3 smaller hard court 'Hot Shots' courts for junior development, also lit for night use.
Social Play
The courts can all be booked online for social play using the links on this page. When booking the courts please be aware that bookings must be made at least 30 minutes before the scheduled booking time. Bookings can be made for day or night tennis.
When booking courts, please make sure you book the right type of court. Court 7 is a Hot Shots court (half size) which is not suitable for general bookings, unless you are specifically after a court this size.
Tennis Coaching
The Club retains the coaching services of Taso "Tass" Vasiliadis who operates a range of coaching options - any (including no) skill level, junior or adult, one-on-one to group - for anyone looking to improve their tennis skills. Classes are conducted 6 days a week; contact Tass at tassvass@hotmail.com or on 0414 094 738 for more information.
Competitive Play
The Club also participates in a number of competitive leagues, providing avenues for competitive junior play as part of the North Suburburban Junior Tennis Association (NSJTA) on Friday or Saturday nights, depending on grade, and Womens‘, Mens’ and Mixed Tennis through the North Suburburban Night Tennis Association (NSNTA) on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights.
