A few of us turned up yesterday for a quick hit before the drizzle set in and some of the juniors were geared up in raincoats spending time at the playground and searching for gemstones in the hills before the rain turned serious!
So our first session with Mike for Term 4 was a washout. Judy, Patricia and I usually have several phone calls and/or text messages on these tricky mornings when the forecast is unfavourable and yet conditions don't look that bad at 9.30am. Making a decision is not easy! However it is important that we let everyone know of cancellations as early as possible - some families travel quite a distance to Clifton Creek, as does Mike.
We do our best to make the most appropriate call on the weather, bearing in mind that Mike is on the court with the four groups for three and a half hours ... we try to ensure everyone remains dry and no one is moving around on unsafe court surfaces.
A big thank-you to Patricia for managing the texts reminding us of weekly sessions and any cancellations.
Fingers crossed for fine clear conditions at our next scheduled coaching session on Sunday 9th November.
(And I must say that no-one was complaining about the lovely steady rainfall that we were lucky to receive after quite a dry spell)
