Junior Programs
We have over 100 Juniors that play or participate at all levels, from HotShots through to Junior competition. The Clare Tennis Club is fortunate to be offering several different programs this coming Summer Season, as well as hosting a junior tournaments so our courts will be a hive of activity. We are lucky to again have Sam Clayson as our club coach and look forward to the contribution that Sam will make in the development of our junior players. Below is an outline of the programs being offered by our club:
BEGINNER PROGRAM
The HOTSHOTS program is essentially for 5-9 year olds who wish to learn the skills of tennis. This year Sam Clayson will coach two age appropriate Hot Shots groups. Sam will have junior coaches working with him to ensure a 1:4 coach/player ratio is maintained. The program will run for 12 weeks (8 weeks in term 4 and 4 weeks in term 1). Make-up sessions at the end of the term will be available for weeks that are cancelled due to inclement weather. The cost of HotShots is $100.
Hotshots
5-7 yr old 3.45- 4.15pm
7-9 yr old 4.15- 4.45pm
Hot Shots tennis commences in week one of Term 4 on Thursday 19th October. Children will need to bring their own racquet, hat and water bottle to each session.
Children aged 10 years and over are encouraged to participate in our Div 5 Green Dot weekend competition (playing matches either Friday nights or Saturday mornings).
Numbers are limited so please register via the membership tab ASAP
JUNIOR PROGRAM
The association is comprised of five divisions with Divisions 4 & 5 catering for beginner players. Training sessions for all junior players will be held on Thursday nights. Each division will train as a group with club coach Sam Clayson in the following proposed timeslots:
Division 4 & 5: 4.45-5.30pm
Division 3 & 4: 5.30-6.15pm
Division 1 & 2: 6.15-7pm
Matches are held on Saturday mornings and occasionally Friday nights. Junior subs are $120 for the season, which includes coaching, matches and ball money.
Junior Training commences on Thursday 19th October 2022.
TUESDAY SQUAD TRAINING
This year Sam Clayson will be offering small group squad training for our players wishing to focus on technique and match tactics. Squad training will be held on Tuesday nights with Club coach Sam Clayson from 3.30-5pm.

UNIFORMS
The Clare Tennis Club Juniors green and purple polo shirts are available to purchase, along with hats and visors. These will be available at Thursday trainings.
PARENT HELPERS & TEAM MANAGERS
This year our club will be relying more heavily on the support of our junior parents. Families will be asked to complete a short survey at the start of the season nominating the ways they are able to help. From here a roster will be developed. Jobs include:
- Team Manager for a junior team on Friday night/Saturday mornings
- Support/ supervision of small groups at Thursday trainings
- Set up on Thursday night (3.30-4pm) nets up, chairs out
- Canteen (fridge and iceblock sales) Thursday night x3 one hour shift
- Set up Saturday morning (8-8.15) nets up, chairs out
SPORT VOUCHERS
The Sports Vouchers program is a Government of South Australia initiative administered by the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing. The program provides an opportunity for primary school aged children from Reception to Year 9 to receive up to a $100 discount on sports or dance membership/registration fees. The purpose is to increase the number of children playing organised sport or participating in dance activities by reducing cost as a barrier.
Families can use their 2023 Sports Vouchers for payment of Hot Shots or junior subs this season. Complete the voucher attached and return to us by the end of October.
