Courts Reopening Guidelines

Dear Members,

With the easing of Covid 19 restrictions our court will be re-opening on Saturday October 24.

Members only will be allowed to play. Guests of members will not be permitted at this stage.

Play will be restricted to singles only.

Bookings are essential

Whilst your access card will allow you entry into the courts we strongly urge you to reserve a court through our new Book A Court system as this is the only way of making sure that a court will be available when you want to play.

Safety first

Your committee is currently putting safety measures in place in time for the reopening and we will be adhering to the guidelines set out by the State government and Tennis Victoria.

The club is acutely aware of its responsibilities to continue to minimize the risk of COVID-19. The last thing we want is a corona cluster at the City of Camberwell Tennis club. It still only takes one person to do the wrong thing so we will continue to err on the side of caution. Therefore if you are feeling unwell do not enter the complex.

Face masks must be worn at all times except when actually playing.

There are to be no spectators - players only.

At any point in time there should only be the current players inside the club perimeter. Please do not spend time within the club perimeter before or after you have played. Parents or caregivers who bring their children along to lessons should stay outside the club perimeter.

A key feature of the current guidelines is that no more than 10 people can meet in the one outdoor area and we would ask you to keep that in front of mind when you’re at the courts.

Players and coaching students should leave the complex immediately after they have finished playing. “Get in-Play- Get out”.

In practical terms the committee believes that it is appropriate to limit overall attendance on our 5 courts to a maximum of 10 players plus coaches as long as social distancing rules are complied with.

Hours of opening will be 7.30 am to 8pm. Court lights will not be operating therefore night tennis will not be available.

Specific guidelines for play

1. Once you’ve entered the complex you must immediately sign into the attendance book which will be on the on a table on the clubhouse veranda. You must enter your name and contact details and time of entry on every visit to the club.

2.There will be no access to the clubhouse except for using the toilets.

3. All players must disinfect hands before and after play. Players are required to bring their own hand sanitizer. Hand sanitizer must be used prior to touching the entry gate and also when registering in the attendance book.

4. Players must provide their own tennis equipment balls and drink bottles. The drink fountains on the courts will be sealed off. Avoid touching other people’s equipment such as tennis racket bags and tennis balls.

5. Social distancing must be exercised at all times with players to be 1.5 metres apart. If you hit a ball onto another court you must collect the ball and ensure you stay at least 1.5 metres away from other players.

6. Please avoid touching your own face at the courts and don’t shake hands after your game. Touching racquets is the new “handshake”.

As a general rule please wipe any equipment or surfaces that you touch with wipes or sanitizer after use. Please use the last 5 minutes of your booked time to bag the court and clean items touched during your session.

Our coaches will be only too happy to give you directions as to what to do and we will have committee members regularly visiting the courts to clarify any issues.

Please be mindful of cooperating with other members in sharing courts by using the Book A Court system to avoid any disputes.

Should you have any queries please call one of the committee members listed below or email totaltennisacademyau@gmail.com

Thank you for your cooperation in these difficult times!

Regards,

Russell McKimm – President COCTC
