SOUTHWEST LADIES PENNANTS

9:30am Thursday morning

This competition is open to members and consists of teams of 4-6 players playing 12 sets of doubles. Each player may play 2-6 sets on any particular day. A light lunch follows play which is provided by the home team. Fixtures are at both home and away, requiring travel on occasions. There is a scheduled break over Christmas and school holidays.

MEN’S SCROUNGERS

Thursday afternoon

A men’s comp with a lot of bantering and friendly rivalry. It is a very popular and successful comp. Originally started by Grayden Clack, it began in season 2008/9 and has continued to grow. Play starts at 2pm in summer and 1:30pm in winter.

INTRACLUB PENNANTS

During Term

Thursday Night is an intraclub pennant night open to members and non-members. We run 4 seasons across each year with each season running 8-9 weeks, roughly in line with the school terms. Each evening players play 1 set of singles and 2 sets of doubles. All playing levels are welcome, with the format designed to pair you against players of similar ability. Please note that all players play singles so the ability and fitness for this is required. Play starts at 7pm until around 9pm, depending on the length of the sets.

TENNIS WEST SOUTHWEST JUNIOR LEAGUE

BTC is excited to be part of the Southwest Junior League, a regional competition giving young players the chance to develop their skills, experience team tennis, and represent their club. The league runs for 10 weeks in a home and away format, followed by two weeks of finals (semi and grand final).

To make this a success, we’re forming a Junior Committee to help coordinate the league and support future junior events. We’re looking for parents, volunteers and club members who can lend a hand — big or small.

THE WHITTAKER CHALLENGE SERIES

The Whittaker Challenge Series is played each year between Dunsborough and Busselton Tennis Clubs in memory of past member of both clubs, Dave Whittaker. Please contact coordinator Steve 0439 036 695 to register your name for play each week.

THE BTC SANDERSON CUP

April - May

The BTC Sanderson Cup has been a fixture on the Busselton Tennis Club calendar for 25 years. Originally created by Di Sanderson and Janet Dickinson, the Sanderson Tournament attracts players from all over the SW Ladies Pennant Zone. The purpose of the comp was to offer pennant ladies another comp to participate in at the end of the pennant season and to allow non-pennant players and players thinking about joining pennants a chance to play in a competition similar to pennants.

It is played at Busselton Tennis Club over 5 weeks from the end of April to the end of May. It’s a lot of fun and the comp finishes with a mystery round. Coordinator Merryl (0433 119 884) and her assistant Wendy (0499 838 740) will start collecting names towards the end of the pennant season.
