GAME, SET, MATCH FOR BUNGENDORE’S TENNIS STARS
Bungendore’s tennis players have an ace future ahead with Member for Monaro John Barilaro officially opening the latest upgrades at Bungendore Tennis Courts.
Mr Barilaro said the installation of a fourth court, practice hitting wall and hot shots court was delivered thanks to more than $246,000 funded through the NSW Government’s Infrastructure Grants Program.
“Tennis has become one of the most popular sports for people of all ages, whether you play competitively or take part in a social game, tennis is a sport for everyone,” Mr Barilaro said.
“It is fantastic to be here today to open the major upgrades at Bungendore Park Tennis Club and see the significant improvement in the club’s infrastructure.
“The club’s committee have done a fantastic job bringing this vision to life and I can’t wait to see Bungendore’s tennis stars out on the courts taking full advantage of these new facilities.”
Bungendore Park Tennis Club has significantly grown in recent years as a result of Monday night social tennis, increased club membership, and the growing local coaching programs for children and adults.
The addition of a fourth court, practice hitting wall and hot shots courts has meant even the youngest players now have the opportunity to learn and improve their skills.
Bungendore Park Tennis Club President Keith Bender said the new court, practice hitting wall and hot shots court was a great addition for the local community.
“Tennis has really boomed in Bungendore which is why we have been championing these upgrades and I am so excited to finally see more playing areas that cater for everyone,” Mr Bender said.
“As a club we have a vision to encourage more people to take part in tennis locally and now we have the facilities to cater for all ages and abilities.”
The NSW Government’s Infrastructure Grant is made possible by the Clubgrants Category 3 Fund which reinvests contributions from the State’s registered clubs gaming machine profits back into the community.
