Yes its true!... at the end of November we received news that our FIFTH application for NSW Government funding for a new clubhouse was successful (they couldn't ignore us forever!) This is truly very exciting news for the tennis community in Bungendore and the surrounding districts! A new clubhouse means a bigger, better, more comfortable and inviting space for the club's more than 160 strong membership. A toilet and change room space on site will mean having a more comfortable and safe space for seniors, families with children, children having tennis lessons, and students participating in their regular weekday school tennis sporting activity.
We are very grateful to the NSW Government's continued support for grassroots community sport through its CLUBGrants program. A very big shout out to Eric Martin & Associates for the clubhouse plans and related work - all provided at no cost to the club - this meant we were able to demonstrate that we were shovel ready. A big shout out also to the Queanbeyan and Palerang Regional Council for your letter of support and DA exemption, the local High School for your letter of support, and everyone one of you out there in our community who have supported our clubhouse fund raising efforts by buying a sausage, or making a donation whenever we've run the Rotary/IGA sausage sizzle...without your support we wouldn't be winners!
Look out for further updates on the work on the new clubhouse as together, we complete the transformation of the eastern end of the Mick Sherd Oval and Bungendore Park precinct!
