HEAD COACH - TOM PAINO

Tom is a Tennis Australia Club Professional Coach.

Prior to coaching at Beaumaris Tom was one of the Head Coaches at Royal South Yarra Lawn Tennis Club, a position he held for 10 years.

After travelling on the WTA tour with former top 10 singles player and World Number 1 ranked doubles player Ai Sugiyama, Tom decided to concentrate on Club Coaching. As well as being a hitting partner for the world best players, Tom is an excellent player in his own right. In 2005 he achieved a world ranking as well as a top 20 Australian National Ranking. He has captained and played at the number 1 position at state grade level and has also won a Grade 1 pennant flag.

Along with Andrew Tom is currently the Head Coach at Haileybury College.

Tom also coaches the Haileybury APS First Tennis Team (Premiers 2020)

As a coach Tom aims to provide a safe, caring and fun environment where students learn to develop a lifelong love and understanding of tennis.

HEAD COACH – ANDREW FRANKENI

Andrew Frankeni is a Tennis Australia club professional coach with over 20 years teaching experience. During this time he has had the opportunity to work with a wide ranging client base with varying skill sets.

Andrew was formerly employed by Tennis Australia and coached out of Melbourne Park. It was here Andrew was lucky enough to be involved with a number of elite training programs, at varying age groups. During this time he was also appointed the head coach of the Australian Deaf Tennis Team. This position required Andrew to implement and oversee a number of training programs throughout australia in the lead up to the Deaflympics. Andrew also had the unenviable task of helping select a team to represent Australia. 

In 2010 Andrew spent a period of time as the travelling coach to Olivia Rogowska, who at the time was ranked in the top 150 in the world on the WTA tour. More recently, with a growing, young family, Andrew has taken a step away from singleminded, tennis career driven athletes, and along with Tom, has taken over the running of Haileybury’s tennis program. Andrew is really enjoying the impact he is having on children and young adults lives and not just their tennis development.

HEAD COACH – LUKE BARNHOORN

Luke is a tennis coach with 15 years of coaching experience backed by his educational background attaining a Masters of High performance sport and Bachelor of Exercise and Sports science degrees during his time at University.

Luke grew up in a tennis loving family and started coaching at his family club at the age of 15. He was the number 1 player and captain in both his Year 11 and 12 year at St Bedes College in 2009-2010. He then sought to build on his coaching knowledge and gained a wealth of experience working alongside Club professional tennis coaches at St Louis in Aspendale, St. Andrews tennis club in Brighton and with Andrew and Tom at Haileybury.  Luke is now the Director of Tennis at Haileybury Keysborough.

Luke has been a highly valued member of the coaching team at whatever club he has been a part of. He has been instrumental in developing high performing environments by using his educational skill set to implement current tennis research and information to improve each tennis clubs coaching program.

As a coach Luke is super enthusiastic about creating a really fun, engaging and dynamic learning environment matched by his value in building really strong relationships with all his tennis students and their families.
