About the Junior Tennis Programs
Both the ANZ Hot Shots Program and the ATA Squad progam are delivered through the Armidale Tennis Academy.
ANZ Hot Shots - Red Ball Red Ball is design for the youngest tennis players, ages 5 to 8 years old. Activities are facilitated by ATA coaches and played on mini courts using the red, low compression balls. The lower compression produces a lower bounce and slower ball which is much easier to hit. Coaches teach a maximum of 4–5 students per lesson and each lesson is 30 minutes in duration. Children are recommended to use 21 - 23 inches (53 - 58cm) rackets. ANZ Hot Shots - Orange Ball Orange Ball will suit kids aged 8 - 10 years old. Kids progress to a slightly larger court (3/4 size) and orange balls with higher compression for a higher bounce and faster speed. Coaches introduce key concepts of the game and facilitate fun activities to groups of 6 - 8 kids. Lessons are 1 hr in duration. Students are recommended to use a larger 23 - 25 inch (58 - 63cm) racket. ANZ Hot Shots - Green Ball The Green Ball program is played on a full sized court with a slightly higher compression ball. Coaches work with groups of 6-8 students, building on the outcomes they achieved in the Orange Ball program. Lessons are 1 hour in duration. Students are recommended to use a racquet size of 25 - 27 inches (63 - 68cm). ATA Squad Program The ATA Squad Program is suitable for players aged 12 and older. Sessions are conducted on full sized courts with full compression balls. Dave and his team focus on incorporating specific tennis techniques ranging from technical, tactical, physical and psychological areas of development. Coaches work with groups of 6 - 8 students and sessions last for 1.5 hours | |
