This notice is to advise all members of the Weston Creek Tennis Club that a Special General Meeting (SGM) will be held at the clubhouse at 7.00 PM on 08 December 2020. The regular Committee meeting will follow the SGM at 7.30 PM on the same evening.

The purpose of the SGM will be to consider amendments to the Club’s Constitution. Under the Constitution, amendments are required to be passed by resolution of two thirds majority of financial members present at the SGM.

The amended Constitution has been endorsed by the Club’s Committee and can be read HERE.

The proposed amendments do not change the general purpose or intent of the document, but make minor corrections and bring the document up to date. Specifically, the amendments:

1. Eliminate the need for a Special General Meeting to make minor changes to the Constitution. Such changes could be made at an Annual General Meeting.
2. Correct definitions whose objectives have changed over time (eg. replacing reference to “payments must be made by cheque” etc).
3. Correct punctuation and pagination.
4. Change clause numbering and ensure consistency of descriptors throughout the document.
