$800,000 announced for the Weston Creek Tennis Club

David Smith MP, Member for Bean, and Yvette Berry, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Sports and Recreation, and representatives from Tennis ACT visited our club on Monday 2 May 2022 to announce the provision of $800,000 for four new hardcourts for the club, and the possible updating of two existing courts. This funding is dependent on the Labor Party forming government this year.

The weather was perfect for the announcement and the club looked picture perfect – an ideal setting for such an important announcement for the club.

Both Mr Smith and the Minister spoke highly of our club and the contribution it makes to the health of the community. The $800,000 commitment clearly reflects their support for the club, and the important role it plays in the Weston Creek and Molonglo districts. It also means that as our membership, our casual usage, and our coaching numbers grow, the additional courts will ensure that the club has a long-term future, and the capacity to support future growth for many years.

Our club has provided a wonderful community facility for Weston Creek citizens for many years, and more recently, for the Molonglo community. It is a credit to those volunteer club members, past and present, who have worked so tirelessly to make Weston Creek Tennis Club arguably the best community tennis club in the ACT.
