History

In 2000, after an advert was placed in the Tamborine Times, an enthusiastic band of tennis players met regularly to play and talk about getting a tennis club on Tamborine Mountain.

In November 2000, Tamborine Mountain Tennis Club held its inaugural meeting and was incorporated the following year.  The club started by hiring local courts to play social tennis once a week.  One venue was the Eagle Heights Hotel with its bitumen court and another was the North Tamborine Primary State School court in the evenings as it had lights.

In 2009, the club took a lease on the council land at 88 Beacon Road between the Tamborine Mountain College and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.  After successfully obtaining grant money from the Qld State Government and the Scenic Rim Regional Council, two artificial grass tennis courts with lights were built.

Since then, a clubhouse and a toilet block has been built and the car park and access road sealed.  Online court booking via a keyless gate system was introduced at the end of 2017.  LED lighting and solar power was installed over the summer of 2019/20.
