On 17 June 23, Manuka Tennis Club celebrated the official opening of our new grass courts with a fun-filled event attended by members and friends from our wonderful community.🤩🥳🎾 The weather was bright and sunny, as was the vibe. 😎
The Fastest Serve Competition kicked things off with a bang, and both kids and adults competed to set a new record. The winner, Tom Fuller, astounded everyone with his serve, clocking at an incredible 216 km per hour! At the same time, our courts were enjoyed by our amazing special needs group and kids and parents playing a variety of fun games, adding to the overall awesomeness of the day. Later, social tennis was the perfect opportunity for everyone to mingle and catch up with friends, while also showing off their tennis skills.
And who could forget the Manuka Tennis Club-branded cake and cupcakes? They were a hit with everyone!👏
During our celebration, Jonathon Mandl gave a memorable speech about the rich history of our beloved community club. 💚 We were honoured to welcome Yvette Berry MLA, the ACT Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Sport and Recreation, as our special guest, who officially toasted and opened our new courts 😃👏
We also want to express our gratitude to Team Tennis ACT for their support, including a surprise visit from Kim Kachel, former CEO of Tennis ACT. Lastly, we want to thank the Manuka Tennis Club Committee, led by President Bill Brummitt, for their fantastic work in driving our grass court project and making this event a reality!👍
All in all, the celebration was a day to remember, filled with tons of laughter, joy, and fun!🥳
